P7 have been learning about what it means to dissolve in water and the meaning of the terms ‘soluble,’ ‘insoluble’ and ‘substance.’ We made predictions as to which materials would dissolve in water and discussed how we were going to make it a fair test. We then tested salt, sugar, sand and flour, stirred them into separate water beakers and watched what happened. We discovered that salt and sugar were soluble and flour and sand were insoluble.
