P1’s Second Sound of the Week
5th Feb 2026
P1, the children are learning the sound b through fun, multi-sensory play. This means they explore the sound using lots of hands-on activities, such as saying the sound aloud, tracing the letter shape, using materials like sand or playdough, and spotting objects that begin with b. Using multiple senses helps children remember the sound more easily and builds strong early reading and writing skills. You can support this at home by encouraging your child to listen for the b sound in everyday words, practise forming the letter, and talk about items around the house that start with b.
