P1 and Time
30th Mar 2026
P1 learners explore the concept of o’clock by first becoming familiar with the parts of an analogue clock, such as the hour hand and the numbers around the face. Through hands-on activities, they practise reading simple times where the minute hand points to 12, helping them understand that this means “o’clock.” To deepen their learning, children design and create their own clocks using craft materials, carefully placing numbers in the correct order and adding movable hands. This creative process reinforces their understanding of time while also developing fine motor skills, problem-solving, and confidence in recognising and telling the time.
